Movement Speeds
| Form (Assuming Flat Ground) | Speed |
|---|---|
| Banjo Walking | 500 |
| Banjo Jumping | Instant acceleration to 500 with a slowdown when you land |
| Banjo Fluttering | Instant acceleration to 500 with no slowdown when you land |
| Banjo Rolling | Up to 600 near the end of the roll with a big slowdown afterwards |
| Using Rat-a-tat-rap | Carries the momentum from your previous movement then starts to slow down to a minimum of 500 (if you peck out of a neutral jump then it will stay at 500 since a neutral jump has a speed of 500) |
| Talon Trot Walking | 700 |
| Talon Trot Jumping | Instantly accelerates you to 700 with a slowdown if you reach the end of the slide after the jump |
| Rat-a-tat-rap out of Talon Trot in Midair | Stops your momentum (if you jump off a platform in talon trot and reach the falling animation, then your peck will have momentum) |
| Sliding in Talon Trot | 700 (same properties as walking in talon trot, just a slowdown if you reach the very end of the slide) |
All these assume flat ground, when you apply up and downhill slopes some properties may change. For instance, your XZ speed will decrease if you go up slopes, but increase as you go down slopes. Going uphills you want to slide as little as possible and going downhills you want to slide as much as possible (sometimes may even be worth reaching the end of the slide to just stay walking downhill depending on the length and steepness of the slope). This concept applies to all forms of ground movement for all transformations and shoes.
Other Forms of Movement
Notice how you have to wait to roll (left) but you can jump-flutter almost immediately (right)
Banjo is swimming completely straight here without angling up at all, and the slope is pushing him up automatically
General Movement Tips
It's hard to notice but Banjo makes it up the hill faster when he hugs the wall here
Notice how the H-Velocity stays at 700 longer for the first jump and goes below 700 instantly when Banjo hits the hill right away
Notice how much sooner you can move if you release Wonderwing early
This shows 2 instances for pressing the C button 3 times. The first leaves a gap in between the inputs and the second presses them rapidly right after each other and gives a different result
Notice how in one of them Banjo’s momentum is halted and he loses his slide (left), whereas in the other Banjo keeps his momentum and keeps his slide (right)
